COCOPAT: A Story of Family, Love, and Handcrafted Bags
Some business stories do not begin with grand plans, but with small ideas that grow over time into something much greater. Such is the story of the COCOPAT brand—a project born from family connection, creativity, and the desire to create something authentic. In a rapidly changing fashion world, COCOPAT developed step by step, relying on handcrafted work, sustainable materials, and its own design signature. Today, it is a story of perseverance, love for creation, and the belief that a simple idea can develop into a recognizable brand.
COCOPAT is a story of family, love, determination, and dedication.
It all began in 2012. In a girl’s room, she convinced her mother to sew her an envelope bag from a piece of black vegan leather, according to her own design.
What followed was incredible—a mother who had never turned on a sewing machine before made the bag! Her daughter’s desire for a bag instantly evolved into a sophisticated business idea, and with that first bag, the COCOPAT brand was born!
Today, COCOPAT is a family business run by a mother and her three daughters. All bags are handmade with love from high-quality vegan leather (faux leather). Our 12 seamstresses are filled with great passion for sewing and work diligently to fulfill every client’s dream.
From just an idea to a family production facility in the heart of Bosnia and Herzegovina, our production is socially responsible, and our employees work under fair working conditions.
By purchasing a COCOPAT bag, you support businesswomen, small enterprises, and big dreams!
Did you believe in this level of brand success at the beginning?
First of all, we started with completely different products from those we now create. These were small women's fashion accessories: brooches, necklaces, bracelets, and rings, and after that we began making our first small bags, the most basic classic ones with snap closures. So we can say that no one expected the kind of success we have achieved so far, and we are grateful to everyone who helped us realize it.
What does a typical workday look like in the Cocopat workshop?
The COCOPAT workshop is always swamped with work, but our diligent girls manage to complete everything accurately and precisely. The entire production process is divided into several phases, and at the end, each bag is carefully inspected before it leaves the workshop. The workshop is only part of the work that makes up our brand; half the work that happens "behind the scenes" is of great importance to the brand's functioning. This part of the work includes many functions, such as managing social media (Facebook/Instagram), managing web shops, maintaining lists, and daily communication with our customers, as well as with all points of sale.
In which markets do you sell your bags?
Initially, it was only the BiH market, exclusively online orders, and little by little we expanded to Croatia and Serbia, also only with online orders. During our online business operations, we also acquired several points of sale (in BiH) that still carry our bags in their offerings today. After a few years, we finally decided to open our own standalone shops: first in Vitez, and a year later in Sarajevo. Today we have two web shops, one oriented toward the Croatian market with a warehouse in Croatia, and another for the entire world, with a warehouse in the Netherlands. After all these years of ups and downs—we now count over 10!—we want to convey just one message: never give up on your dreams!
