here are cities that, at certain times of the year, acquire a completely new energy. Radovljica is one of them. In spring, when nature awakens and the streets of the old town fill with the gentle rhythm of visitors, a special experience has been created here for years – one remembered for its scents, flavors, and atmosphere. In this context, chocolate is not merely a sweet treat. It becomes a reason to visit, an occasion for socializing, and a small ritual of enjoyment that lasts longer than the moment of tasting itself. This is precisely why the Radovljica Chocolate Festival attracts an increasing number of visitors each year, combining simple pleasure with a carefully curated experience.

This year’s festival will take place 18. April 18 and April 19, transforming Radovljica into a space where chocolate is experienced in various ways.

A stroll between locations reveals diverse scenes – from tastings and encounters with producers to spontaneous moments of music and entertainment. The festival is thus not just an event, but an experience built through movement, exploration, and the discovery of details.

What sets this festival apart is its focus on chocolate in all its forms. Visitors come not just to taste, but to understand and experience the creation process.

This year, special attention is drawn to Radovljica Mansion (Radovljiška graščina), which has been thematically transformed into a space dedicated to chocolate. Within its rooms, visitors have the opportunity to experience chocolate from its very beginning – from cocoa beans to the finished bar. This process, though seemingly simple, reveals the complexity and beauty of creating something we often take for granted.

hile a part of the festival takes place in the more intimate spaces of the mansion, the park remains a place of gathering and energy. Over two days, musical performances, shows, and various activities create a lively and relaxed atmosphere. Children and families find their space in the playful part of the program, while adults enjoy a slower pace – conversations, a glass of wine, and, of course, chocolate. This balance is precisely what makes the festival appealing to a wide range of visitors. The Radovljica Chocolate Festival also carries the weight of tradition. It is the longest-running festival of its kind in Slovenia, having maintained its identity over the years while simultaneously evolving and adapting. Each new edition brings something different, yet the core idea remains the same – to create a space where quality, creativity, and a relaxed atmosphere naturally converge.

Located in an easily accessible area, Radovljica becomes an ideal destination for a day trip or a weekend getaway during the festival. Its proximity to train and bus stations, as well as good connections to the rest of the region, further facilitate arrival.

However, what makes the visit memorable is not the logistics, but the feeling that lingers after departure – a combination of flavors, ambiance, and unplanned, spontaneous moments. Read more here.
